<td colspan="2">CSR conducted a mediation training program for government employees with a focus on workplace disputes in Crystal City, VA, March 29-31, 2011.  The training included mediation process and mediator skill building exercises.</p>
<p>This is the first phase of a two-part mediation training program which will be followed by a three-day “Advanced Mediation” program scheduled for May 10-12, 2011, in Crystal City, Virginia.  The &#8220;Advanced&#8221; course includes further work on communication and negotiations skills, working with diverse personalities and communication styles, working with attorneys, and dealing with difficult people and disruptive situations. Bob Randolph and Frank Carr are lead trainers.</p>

<td colspan="2" width="583" valign="top">The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has just published (May 2010) its updated Partnering Pamphlet, 91-ADR-P-4, written by CSR senior partner, Frank Carr.  The pamphlet includes chapters on the partner concept, process, and the initial kick-off workshop.  Also, the pamphlet has sections on establishing common goals, improving stakeholder communications, creating an issue resolution ladder, drafting a meaningful Charter, and sustaining the relationship.  Finally, there is an analysis of the benefits of partnering taken from two recent construction projects.  The pamphlet can be downloaded at <a href="http://www.iwr.usace.army.mil/pubsearchAll.php?alpha=P" target="_blank">http://www.iwr.usace.army.mil/pubsearchAll.php?alpha=P</a><span>.</span></td>

<td colspan="2"><span>Under a contract with Deloitte Consulting and the Agency for International Development (AID), Pete Swanson will be conducting an assessment in January/February and March 2010 to determine whether and how commercial mediation may play a role in enhancing the climate for foreign investment and more efficient resolution of commercial disputes. The outcome of the project will be a set of recommendations for implementing a commercial mediation initiative nation wide. CSR has designed and created similar programs for Croatia, Bulgaria, Nepal and Egypt.</span></td>
